Editing Lesson blog

Today in class we learned about how to edit. We learned that dumping is bring the takes from the camera onto the computer and the final takes are called shots. This will be important when I have to communicate with my teammates later on in the project.  We were also told that our dates will be changing, which means we have more time to storyboard. We learned that pinnacle studios is the computer software that we will use to edit our work. During the hour long presentation, we were told to take notes, since this was a very important lesson. The good thing about taking notes for this lesson is that if we have any questions, we can refer to our notes to help us. We learned exactly how to use pinnacle studios and what to do when someone is absent. We also learned about all of the equipment that we will be using for filming, those being: the camera, the tripod, and the SD card. The SD card reader will only be used when we want to start editing.
When we are ready to edit, we will have to make sure we get back to class, get the SD reader, and dump out work onto the computer. After we do that we were told to put the SD reader back for other kids to use then edit our footage. We learned about the different types of editing, like cutting; transitions; and sound effects. Me and my team agreed to do a voice over for our commercial to make sure it sounds good. Something else that we learned was how to import and export our information when we are started and when we are finished. We also learned to make sure that everything is saved before we export. The class was advised to use the school computers since it had the software on it. Since the pinnacle studios app for computers was over $100, my team agreed to use a computer. Our teacher showed us a demonstration on how to use the camera and tripod. She went over exactly what to do.
She talked about how to insert and eject the SD card. We learned about how it turns on and what to do if it doesn't (it's more than likely just dead). We learned how to properly carry a tripod and how not to carry a tripod. The class learned about when we could check out cameras and when they had to be returned. We also talked about what to do if one of our teammates isn't here. Since she spent so much time talking, and showing us the software and the camera, she gave us an extension on our homework, writing this blog. Of course, when we assigned it, it was only due at the end of class, but she gave us until the end of the day to complete it. I cant wait until I get to complete my storyboard for the commercial next class. Me and my teammates will finally get to work on how the commercial will look and how it will turn out.
